Cedric Doumbé is certainly a character. His official website describes him as a“comedian, boxer, actor-director, model, humorist, stylist”.

We can see the mix clearly in his showmanship. Doumbé is very conscious of putting a show on for the fans and he has a rather flamboyant style. He also has one of the more accomplished social media games in kickboxing and keeps fans up to date with graphics, videos and written posts across Facebook and Instagram.

A French national born of Cameroonian parents, Doumbé's first venture into martial arts was via karate and the kickboxing style known as 'Full Contact' which, oddly, does not allow kicks below the waistline and also requires the competitors to wear long pants (so-called 'shiny pants kickboxing' by its detractors).

He didn't move into kickboxing proper until 2012 but he has been doing very well in it. In 2015 he debuted for GLORY against Yoann Kongolo and lost a decision, but earned new fans with his tricky displays. At GLORY 28 PARIS earlier this year he outfoxed Murthel Groenhart to take a decision win and insert himself into the contender picture immediately.

In fighting he says his role models are the heavyweight legend boxer Rocky Marciano and the lesser-known Samir Mohammed, 'The Little Prince', who retired with a record of 116-0.
