The GLORY 69 SuperFight Series in Germany was headlined by a light heavyweight clash featuring Frenchman Stéphane Susperregui (49-9-2, 28 KO’s) and Brazil’s Felipe Micheletti (15-8, 5 KO’s).
Susperregui fired a jab and followed it with a right hand. He then attacked the body Micheletti with a straight right hand. Micheletti was patient and delivered a heavy kick to the body of Susperregui.
They traded head kick attempts, but both fighters were able to block. Micheletti backed up Susperregui with a combination. A left hook from Susperregui ripped the body of Micheletti.
The Brazilian answered with a clean right hand that dropped Susperregui. The French fighter was able to recover and make it through the round.
Round two saw Susperregui come out with reckless abandon. He fired low kicks and then closed the distance with punches. Susperregui delivered a head kick that got through the guard of Micheletti.
Another head kick from the Frenchman landed and he followed it with a clean right hand. The high output seemed to confuse Micheletti, who absorbed shot after shot from Susperregui.
Micheletti went to work with low kicks in the third round. Susperregui countered with punches. A step-in knee from Susperregui hurt Micheletti to the body. The Brazilian did not go down, but ate multiple shots to the head.
Micheletti came forward and landed a pair of power punches. He caught Susperregui with a series of shots along the ropes, including a big overhand right.
The judges were called upon, and while two scored the bout for Micheletti, the remaining three scored it a draw and the fight was sent to a fourth and deciding round.
Micheletti opened the extension round with more low kicks. Susperregui returned to attacking the body, ripping a left hook to the Brazilian’s liver. A knee from Micheletti caught Susperregui clean and he followed it with a right hand.
A body kick from Susperregui found its mark and continued to deliver a good mix of punches and kicks. Micheletti pushed the action in the final moments, but the fight went to the scorecards again.
Despite the early knockdown, Susperregui’s work paid off, as he swept the scorecards in the extra round.
