John King was born in Oklahoma City and has been an athlete ever since his youth, playing football, basketball and running track before going to represent Oklahoma State in college football.
When his college days were over, King went on to play professionally in Texas for the Amarillo Dusters in the Arena Football League.
In 2011, King transitioned into Mixed Martial Arts. His toughness and athleticism earned him instant success. He found that the physicality of the football field had prepared him well for the rough-housing of the fight game.
King’s biggest win in MMA to date has been over Daniel Almeida, a Nova Uniao team mate of UFC featherweight Jose Aldo. Through his time in MMA, King found himself increasingly drawn to the kicking game. He’s one of many American fighters joining the kickboxing revolution under the GLORY banner.
