Featherweight contender elimination bout added to Dynamite 1

Two of the featherweight division’s rising talents have been added to the roster of GLORY Kickboxing fights taking place at Dynamite 1 on Saturday, September 19.

Amsterdam-based Serhiy Adamchuk, originally from Ukraine will meet Anvar Boynazarov, of California by way of Uzbekistan, in a fight which will determine the next featherweight contender.

Adamchuk debuted at GLORY 22 FRANCE by taking a fight with lightweight contender Marat Grigorian on 24 hours notice. His clever and gritty performance earned him a decision win; Grigorian went on to win the K-1 MAX eight-man tournament in Japan a month later, highlighting the quality of Adamchuk’s victory.

Boynazarov debuted at GLORY 23 LAS VEGAS last month in a fight with Georgian prospect Giga Chikadze, himself now resident in California and a training partner of UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos at Kings MMA.

Chikadze started strong but Boynazarov, a Muay Thai champion with a long history of competing and winning in Thailand, was able to shut his creative attacking game down and start picking him apart to take the win.

Canadian champion Gabriel Varga had been due to defend his belt against Adamchuk at Dynamite 1 but suffered a back injury in camp. Boynazarov now gets the chance to step in and steal Adamchuk’s title shot.

“These are two very strong competitors, both of them newcomers to GLORY but both of them have made a big impact in their debuts,” remarks Cor Hemmers, GLORY matchmaker and Head of Talent Operations.

“Adamchuk’s win over Grigorian, a top contender one weight class higher than his usual fighting weight, was one of the most impressive things we have seen in the GLORY ring in 2015. Boynazarov also impressed us the way he shut Chikadze down and now he finds himself in this contender elimination fight.”

Dynamite 1 takes place Saturday, September 19 at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, USA.

The hybrid card is a first for North American fight sport entertainment as the arena will host both a Bellator cage and a GLORY Kickboxing ring side-by-side. Action will pass back and forth between the two in one of the year’s most loaded cards.
