Anderson Silva

Anderson ‘Braddock’ Silva spent several years in Amsterdam at the personal invitation of the legendary heavyweight Peter Aerts, who wanted him as a sparring partner. A fast and ferocious kicker, ‘Braddock’ has fought some of the best in the world and can lay claim to being Brazil’s top heavyweight.

His nickname comes from a character Chuck Norris played in the cult movie ‘Missing In Action’. His team mates felt he shared the same gung-ho attitude and fearlessness in battle.  Recently he returned to his native Brazil, where he trains at the Team Nogueira facility in Rio de Janeiro.

That gym is home to both Rodrigo Nogeuria, former PRIDE FC champion, and his middleweight namesake Anderson ‘Spider’ Silva, the former UFC champion. Both have said that ‘Braddock’ has raised the standard of stand-up sparring at the team and is a very hard sparring partner.
