Matt Baker

Matt Baker fights out of Team Black in the Bay Area, California. He trains under Dan Black, former striking coach to the Cesar Gracie fight team and top martial artists such as Nick Diaz and Gilbert Melendez.

Baker is accomplished both in jiu jitsu and striking but the latter is where his heart is and that has led him to the GLORY World Series. He earned his call-up thanks to success on the national and international circuit.

In 2013 he both won the WKA North America title and unified the WKA and WTKA World Championships. He tournament run also including placing second in the WKA 2013 Open-Weight category, stacked with much larger opponents. 

In 2012 and 2014 he was an IFMA tournament bronze medalist, a particularly notable accomplishments. Other GLORY fighters to have medaled in IFMA tournaments include Artem Levin and Filip Verlinden. 

Baker’s team mate and training partner Xavier ‘X-Man’ Vigney is signed to GLORY and competes in the heavyweight division. He was victorious in the GLORY 21 SAN DIEGO Heavyweight Contender Tournament.
