About SteveAbout Steve

Australia’s hot, harsh environment has a history of producing tough men and they don’t come much tougher than Steve ‘The Smashing Machine’ McKinnon, the former WBC Muay Thai World Super Cruiserweight Champion.

Five world titles, two Australian and one British Commonwealth championship mark McKinnon out as a serious talent. His achievements are the result of a lifetime’s martial arts training, starting at four years old in his father’s Shotokan Karate school. McKinnon gained his karate black belt as a teenager and spent his adolescent years fighting and winning in Karate tournaments before switching to kickboxing career at 16. Among his wins are Paul Slowinski and French number one Stephan Susperregui. Physical fitness is a big part of McKinnon’s game and he fights at a tremendous pace for a big man.

He likes to put pressure on his opponents and he has a seriously good kicking game thanks to his style being a mixture of Shotokan karate and Muay Thai. And with 37 wins inside the distance, there is clearly plenty of power behind the technique.
