The Last Heavyweight Standing tournament began back in April of 2025 and started with almost fifty heavyweights, all vying to put their name in the history books.Â
Now it will culminate with eight heavyweights going head-to-head in an epic one-night grand prix style tournament on February 7 from the GelreDome in Arnhem, the Netherlands at ‘GLORY 105: Last Heavyweight Standing Finals’.
The tournament will not only crown the baddest heavyweight in combat sports today but the winner will also become the new GLORY heavyweight world champion after Rico Verhoeven recently relinquished the title.
This past weekend at COLLISION 8 the quarter-final matchups & brackets were decided by a random draw and they created some huge fights.Â
Most notably, two of GLORY’s biggest stars in Antonio Plazibat (22-5, 16 KO) and ‘The Black Ghost’ Mory Kromah (35-3-1, 21 KO) will collide in their quarter-final. The two outspoken superstars had a heated exchange when they came face-to-face during the draw making this arguably the most anticipated fight of the opening round.Â
The winner here will move on to fight the winner of Nico Horta (26-11, 4 KO) versus Tariq Osaro (29-4-1, 16 KO) in the semi-finals. The pair first met at GLORY 95 where Osaro walked away with a decision victory, however, as Horta pointed out, he stepped on short notice and now has a full camp to prepare.
On the other side of the bracket, undefeated in the tournament so far, Anis Bouzid (48-4, 37 KO) drew the legendary Errol Zimmerman (112-20-1, 45 KO), who was fresh off his first round KO victory over Australia’s strongest man Alex Simon.Â
The winner will move onto the semi-finals and will face the victor between Serbia’s Milos Cvjeticanin (17-5, 10 KO) and France’s Sofian Laidouni (42-5-1, 20 KO), a matchup between two of the tournament’s technicians in the ring.
