Two world title fights headline GLORY 26 Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a city synonymous with the sport of kickboxing and in December GLORY becomes part of that rich history. GLORY 26 AMSTERDAM was today confirmed for Friday, December 4 at the RAI Arena.

To mark the occasion, and to end 2015 on a high note, the card will feature two World Championship Title fights plus a Featherweight Contender Tournament to determine who will be the next challenger for the World Featherweight Championship.

The double-headlined card will see Rico ‘The Prince’ Verhoeven (46-10, 11 KO’s) defending his World Heavyweight Championship and Nieky ‘The Natural’ Holzken (87-11, 46 KO’s) defending his World Welterweight Championship.

“We are proud to be able to host this historic event in Amsterdam with the blessing of Mayor Van der Laan's office," says GLORY CEO Jon Franklin.

“After a year of negotiations by our team, the Dutch fans will finally be able to experience the world's top kickboxing league live.

“The Netherlands has such a rich history of kickboxing, from the world-renowned gyms to the numerous championship athletes the region has produced.

“In fact, three of our six reigning GLORY champions are Dutch and two of those champions, Rico and Nieky, are going to put on a show for their countrymen in December.”

Verhoeven and Holzken will both be paying close attention to GLORY’s next two events in order to learn who their opponents will be in Amsterdam.

Verhoeven’s opponent will be determined by the four-man Heavyweight Contender Tournament taking place next week, Friday October 9 at GLORY 24 DENVER.

Benjamin "Mister Gentleman" Adegbuyi of Romania faces off with Croatian southpaw Mladen "The Scorpion Sting" Brestovac and explosive Australian brawler Ben "The Guvner" Edwards faces Dutch kickboxing specialist Jahfarr Wilnis in the semi-finals. The tournament winner will face Verhoeven in December.

A four-man Welterweight Contender Tournament is also planned for GLORY 25 MILAN, which takes place on Friday, November 6 at the PalaIpa in Monza, Milan. The tournament line-up will be confirmed in the near future.

One participant is already confirmed for the GLORY 26 AMSTERDAM Featherweight Contendeer Tournament. Mosab ‘The Jaguar’ Amrani is #1 in the contender listings already and has challenged for the title once before. He will get a second shot, if he can win the tournament in Amsterdam.

Tickets for GLORY 26 Amsterdam will be available for purchase starting next Tuesday, Oct. 6 at ticketmaster.nl and select Ticketmaster retail locations in the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, GLORY 24 DENVER takes place next Friday and is headlined by American kickboxing star Joe "Stitch 'Em Up" Schilling (19-6, 11 KO) battling Dutch kickboxing specialist Jason "Psycho" Wilnis (24-5-1, 6 KO).

The two are ranked #2 and #3 in the world respectively and this fight has major implications for the middleweight title contender mix. Tickets for GLORY 24 DENVER are on sale now, priced at $150, $50, and $35. Tickets are available for purchase at denverpioneers.com/tickets and the Magness Arena box office.
