Petch Retains & Laïdouni Shocks

GLORY 86 took place Saturday evening, May 27, in the electric Grugahalle in Essen, Germany. The main event saw Petch (169-39-3, 27 KO) continue his reign as the GLORY featherweight champion with a hard-earned decision victory over Ahmad Chikh Mousa (58-9-1, 28 KO).

Although it was a unanimous decision, both fighters scored on the other throughout to create a memorable title fight that had the entire arena on their feet from start to finish.

Sofian Laïdouni (35-2-1, 17 KO) registered a career defining victory and punched his ticket for the GLORY heavyweight Grand Prix with an impressive decision victory over veteran Benjamin Adegbuyi (35-7, 20 KO). The Frenchman showcased the full scope of his skillset in the co-main event and almost finished the Romanian giant several times.

One of the shocks of the evening came in the form of a first-round head kick KO courtesy of the returning Bahram Rajabzadeh (62-1, 56 KO) as he sent Luis Tavares (63-9, 21 KO) crashing to the canvas.

Making his GLORY debut, Germany’s Enriko Kehl (52-15-2, 30 KO) made a triumphant return to home soil with a thrilling decision victory over the current number one ranked Guerric Billet (41-7-1, 17 KO). Immediately after the bout, Kehl called for a shot at lightweight champion Tyjani Beztati.

Sarah Moussaddak (8-3, 1 KO) also potentially booked herself a title shot with a win over Giuliana Cosnard (53-3-1, 14 KO). The French-Moroccan desperately wants another shot at champion Tiffany van Soest after their controversial fight last year.

Elsewhere on the card, Chico Kwasi (41-5, 22 KO) continued to make 2023 a debut year to remember. The Mike’s Gym product scored a complete shutout over fellow rising Dutch star Robin Ciric (21-6, 7 KO) and should now break the top five in the GLORY welterweight rankings.

Lastly, in the opening bouts of the night, Portugal’s Juri de Sousa (44-8-1, 20 KO) defeated Brazilian rival Joilton Lutterbach (13-2, 7 KO) by unanimous decision and Estonia’s Uku Jürjendal (18-7, 14 KO) kicked-off the card with a devasting first round KO win over Lithuania’s Mantas Rimdeika (16-5, 7 KO).
