The recently crowned ‘King of Den Hague’ Michael Boapeah (17-4-1, 7 KO) is back in action this Saturday, July 20, as he once again faces off against Ulric Bokeme (32-5, 17 KO) at GLORY 93 live from the Topsportcentrum in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
This is rematch of their fight from GLORY 87 last August in which Boapeah walked away with a TKO victory just two minutes into the first round after Bokeme’s dentures were knocked loose, resulting in a bloody mouth and one of the most viral moments of 2023 in GLORY kickboxing.
We didn’t get to see too much that night of how the two fighters actually fair up against each other over the distance. However, what we did see was both men standing toe to toe with the heads down and swinging hard punches and kicks.
Boapeah found great success with the uppercut, landing several big shots and this could again be the key to victory in this one.
Since their first fight, both Boapeah and Bokeme earned title shots and both came up short against champion Donovan Wisse. It is clear that working towards challenging for the title against is on their minds.
Very little separates their GLORY fight statistics with almost identical striking accuracy and workrate. Bokeme does, on average, get hit more than Boapeah, and we know the number one ranked middleweight can hit hard.
Where Bokeme might have the advantage is Boapeah’s love for being drawn into dog fights. Being nine years his opponent’s senior, Bokeme has the experience over Boapeah and could lure him into such a fight or find his way out better with a timed shot.
Either way, this is a worthy and notable rematch between the two top five ranked middleweights and an important fight for the division.
