Light heavyweight newcomer Sergej Maslobojev (30-5, 19 KO’s) of Lithuania spoiled the undefeated record of Azerbaijan product Bahram Rajabzadeh (57-1, 54 KO’s) on the GLORY 69 SuperFight Series in Germany.
Maslobojev landed with a front kick to the body of Rajabzadeh to start the contest. He followed it with a right hand that snapped the head of Rajabzadeh. A series of heavy low kicks from Rajabzadeh backed Maslobojev against the ropes.Â
Maslobojev responded with a combination, finishing with a low kick of his own. The jab of Maslobojev was countered with another heavy low kick from Rajabzadeh, creating a visible bruise on the thigh of Maslobojev.Â
Late in the round, Maslobojev unleashed a perfectly-timed jumping knee, dropping Rajabzadeh instantly. The Azerbaijani fighter was able to recover and finish the round.
An overhand right from Rajabzadeh cracked Maslobojev to start round two. He fired a knee of his own, but the referee ruled a slip and Maslobojev quickly returned to his feet. Maslobojev back Rajabzadeh to the ropes and flurried with punches and a heavy knee in the clinch.
Rajabzadeh appeared to fade and Maslobojev picked up his offense. A low kick from Rajabzadeh found the groin of Maslobojev and forced a break in the action. Maslobojev attacked the body of Rajabzadeh when the fight continued. A head kick from Maslobojev was blocked by Rajabzadeh as the round came to an end.
Maslobojev fired a series of uppercuts to start the final round. Rajabzadeh barreled forward, throwing recklessly. The action slowed in until Rajabzadeh delivered a spinning attack. An accidental clash of heads opened a massive cut on the head of Rajabzadeh.Â
The doctor allowed the fight to continue and Rajabzadeh again swung for the fences. He failed to connect with anything significant and the fight went the distance.
There were no surprises on the scorecards as Maslobojev handed Rajabzadeh his first career defeat.
