Rising star of the light heavyweight division Mory Kromah (30-2-1, 18 KO) is making his third GLORY appearance on December 7 at COLLISION against Milos Cvjeticanin (11-2, 8 KO). For the Black Ghost, this fight is an opportunity to wrap up 2024 with a third win in the biggest kickboxing organization in the world but also to send a clear message to the rest of the division. We catch up with Mory ahead of this very anticipated fight.
“I know I’m the best. Now, I just need to prove it.”. One thing that can be said about Mory Kromah is that he doesn’t lack confidence. Who could blame him ? The Black Ghost has been undefeated for 5 years and the start of his GLORY run has been fantastic.Â
Although he was left a little bit frustrated and he “wanted to show more” against Anis Bouzid in May, it wouldn’t take long for Mory to produce one of the highlights of the year against Mo Amine at GLORY 94. In the blaze of the sold out Lotto Arena that he had already won over, Mory planted his knee in Amine’s face and finished the former title challenger in the second round. A highlight for the ages and a strong message sent to the rest of the division. The Black Ghost has arrived.Â
Even if he is still at an early stage in his GLORY career, the reception he received in Antwerp would make you believe that he has already conquered the sport. Always one to make the show, Mory is an entertainer, a talker and he backs everything up in the ring. The Black Ghost is a fitting nickname for a fighter so elusive and surprising. Despite the fact that there is still a lot of conquering to do, the direction is clear and the confidence is absolute for Mory. “The hard work is going to pay off” he promesses.Â
His exciting style, winning streak and outgoing personality landed him a spot in the biggest kickboxing event of the year : COLLISION 7. “It’s the perfect place to make my name. People won’t forget me, that’s for sure”. he says. Mory grew up watching kickboxing and those COLLISION cards that have marked history. From the TV to the ring, it’s a dream come true for him. “I’m going to be there and it’s amazing. It’s also pressure but I can control pressure” he adds with his usual confidence.Â
Across the ring will stand Milos Cvjeticanin, another light-heavyweight prospect who’s made a great impression in his debut at GLORY 95. “Milos is a good fighter with a very good right hook but I’m the best.” assess Mory. The expectations around this fight are tremendous as both fighters are perceived as very dynamic strikers with a killer’s instinct. “I’m going to bring fire and damage. I don’t think this will last 3 rounds”.Â
Both fighters will arrive in Arnhem with a lot of confidence acquired through long win streaks against tough opponents. Even though Mory recognizes qualities in Milos, he is full of certainty about the fight’s outcome. “I knew who he was but how can he beat the best ? He can’t. I won’t give him an option” he says firmly.Â
This fight is another step to his ultimate goal : becoming GLORY champion. He believes a win on December 7 will bring him closer to his objectives and will place him in a position to ask for a contender fight. “I’ll take anybody in the top 5. I want to go up and take the road to the belt.” he says. But that’s not the end of his ambitions. Looking ahead on his career, he talks about the legacies of fighters like Donovan Wisse, Alex Pereira and Rico Verhoeven. “I want to be the face of GLORY” he sums up.
For now, his face is often covered by his mask which has become his trademark. “I had it since I was just in C-class. People always loved it so I kept on using it”. For now, his black mask will remain but it’s also a symbol of the work left to be done. “I will create a new mask when I’m going to be champion.” he promesses.Â
