A win at GLORY 40 COPENHAGEN will put Larsen in next Contender Tournament

Niclas Larsen (45-8-2, 24 24 KO's) is just one win away from finding himself in the GLORY 42 PARIS Lightweight Contender Tournament.

Cor Hemmers, GLORY's head matchmaker, says that if the Danish talent beats Thailand's Yodkhunpon Sitmonchai (83-22-1, 51 KO's) at the upcoming GLORY 40 COPENHAGEN, he will be awarded a spot in the Paris competition.

Should he be unsuccessful, the spot will pass to Yodkhunpon, newly arrived in the lightweight division after previously fighting one weight-class down at featherweight.

“This is an important fight in the lightweight division. The winner will go forward to fight in the Lightweight Contender Tournament at GLORY 42 PARIS in June. And then whoever wins that tournament goes forward to fight Sitthichai,” explains Hemmers.

“So either Larsen or Yodkhunpon is potentially three fights from a title shot right now, with their fight being the first of that three.”

Larsen returned to the ring at GLORY 38 CHICAGO with a dominating performance over Lukasz Plawecki. The win was all the sweeter for Larsen because he had been sidelined for more than two years prior, due to a bad infection which attacked his legs and at one point had doctors considering amputation.

His road to recovery was long and hard but Larsen never lost sight of his goal. Now he is back and his prospects look brighter than ever. Fighting on home soil at GLORY 40 COPENHAGEN will be a personal and professional milestone for him.

GLORY 40 COPENHAGEN takes place Saturday, April 29. Tickets are available now via http://bit.ly/GLORY40tix
