Deep cut ends Liu vs Aree early

Jia Liu made one of the more memorable entrances to the GLORY ring, striding down the catwalk in a white silk gown and wearing a traditional veil across her face.    Unfortunately her exit would also be memorable, albeit for the wrong reasons, as a veil of blood covered her face and caused the doctor to stop the fight for medical reasons.   An accidental clash of heads in the second round opened a deep cut on the upper right section of Liu’s forehead and bled profusely.   The referee stopped the fight and asked the doctor to inspect the cut. He applied pressure and gave the cut every chance of closing but in the end it was determined that that the cut was too deep to allow the fight to continue.    It was an unfortunate ending for both sides: because the cut was caused by an accidental foul, it meant the fight result would be a No Contest.   Up until that point, Thailand’s Zaza Sor Aree had been in the driving seat, outlanding Liu and looking well on the way to securing a solid win in her GLORY debut.    The post-fight statistics bore that out, showing her to have landed exactly double the amount of shots that Liu had landed, ending up at 44 strikes landed vs. 22 for Liu.     Jia Liu vs. Zaza Sor Aree, No Contest, R2, Doctor stoppage for cut caused by accidental foul.
