Serhiy Adamchuk has been forced to withdraw from this weekend's GLORY 35 NICE fight with Josh Jauncey (25-7, 14 KO's).
The former featherweight champion returned to his native Ukraine on Monday following the sudden death of his brother.
His place will be taken by his Mike's Gym teammate Chris Baya (56-5-1, 34 KO's), a 25-year-old lightweight fighter who has been enjoying success on the European and Japanese circuit.
Baya will be making his GLORY debut against Jauncey, 23, and is taking the fight on five days' notice, but his coach Mike Passenier says he is “always ready” and predicts a big upset win for his fighter.
He competes in both kickboxing and Muay Thai and this year alone has won several tournaments and scored some big knockout victories.
Adamchuk himself had taken the fight on two weeks' notice following the withdrawal of Dylan Salvador from the fight due to a licensing issue with the French athletic commission.
A timetable for Adamchuk's return to action is unclear at present. GLORY would like to extend our deepest condolences to Serhiy and the Adamchuk family at this difficult time.
GLORY 35 NICE takes place on Saturday, November 5 in Nice, France. The fight between Jauncey and Baya takes place on the SUPERFIGHT SERIES card, which airs live and exclusively worldwide on UFC FIGHT PASS.
