JACOBY vs. UEHARA MOVES TO JAPAN

Dustin ‘The Hanyak’ Jacoby (4-2, 3 KO’s) of Illinois will be traveling to the Land of the Rising Sun for the first time in his career when he faces Makoto Uehara (15-4-1, 9 KO’s) at GLORY 13 TOKYO at theAriake Coliseum, Tokyo, Japan on December 21.

The fight was originally scheduled to take place at GLORY 12 NEW YORK but Uehara enquired about moving the fight to his home turf so his fans could attend in person, and Jacoby was only too happy to agree.

“Japan is the home of the martial arts and for many fighters it is a dream to fight in Tokyo, which has always been one of the most important cities in the world for martial arts and fighting sports,” says Cor Hemmers, GLORY’s Head of Talent Relations.

“When the possibility of moving the fight to Tokyo came up, Jacoby agreed instantly. It is a landmark moment in his career and he is following in the footsteps of many fellow American fighters who have sought victory in the fighting rings of Japan.”

Jacoby arrived in GLORY after winning the very first ‘Road to Glory’ tournament. He entered the tournament on 48 hours notice, driving across the country all night to get there for the weigh-ins, and stopped all three opponents to win the competition outright and land himself a GLORY contract.

Uehara enters GLORY’s light-heavyweight division after dominating the heavyweight ranks in his native Japan. Having recently won major domestic competitions there he is in good form and high in confidence as he prepares to make his GLORY debut in front of a home crowd.
