âWinning the tournament will be good for me. That means Iâll definitely get a title shot again and thatâs what Iâm waiting for,â says Jamal Ben Saddik ahead of this Saturdayâs 8-man heavyweight Grand Prix at GLORY 62.  Despite that goal, Ben Saddik is of the opinion that to be the ârealâ champion, you have to win a tournament of this nature.  Eight-man tournaments are a key part of heavyweight kickboxing history and to Ben Saddik they are even more important than the linear world title belt.  âIn my mind, you canât be world champion in a single fight. In my head and everybodyâs head, youâve got to win a tournament to be world champion,â  âSo in my mind, the one who wins the tournament - which will be me - is the world champion.  âI hope there will be many tournaments like this. Once a year is good. All the best fighters in one tournament to fight to be world champion.â  Standing opposite him in the quarter-finals will be Junior Tafa. The young Samoan has already made his presence felt in the division, partly by way of three stoppage wins and partly by way of personality.  Ben Saddik was on the receiving end of some of Tafaâs trash talk last week as the fighters waited backstage at the draw which determined the quarter-final matches.  âHe was saying backstage that he wanted to fight me [there and then]. I told him âOnly in the ringâ, so [Saturday] is a good day. Letâs fight and make it happen,â he says.  âItâs a good matchup, itâs good for GLORY because weâre both fighters that come to fight and thatâs only fireworks.â  Regarding the rest of the tournament field, Ben Saddik says he has ânobody in particularâ that he is particularly keen to fight.  âItâs a tournament, so Iâm ready for everybody and thatâs how it is in my mind. Iâm ready for everybody.â  GLORY 62 ROTTERDAM takes place this Saturday, December 8 at the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Â
