Rising superstar Mory Kromah (37-3-1, 21 KO) won the Last Heavyweight Standing tournament and became the new GLORY heavyweight world champion on Saturday night, February 7, in Arnhem, the Netherlands.Â
Almost 12,000 fans packed into the GelreDome football stadium to watch ‘The Black Ghost’ be crowned the new ‘King of Kickboxing.’ Kromah made it past two of his biggest rivals in Michael Boapeah and Tariq Osaro to reach the final of the eight-man one-night tournament.
Serbian warrior Milos Cvjeticanin was set to face him in the final, however, after dislocating his big toe in his first fight, the damage accumulated over his two wins ruled him out of the final. With the reserve fighters unable to compete, 26-year-old Kromah was then declared the winner and claimed the vacant title in an unforgettable night.Â
The popular Bahram Rajabzadeh (73-6, 65 KO) returned from retirement in spectacular fashion with patented and devasting first round knockout victory over Cristian Ristea (44-28, 13 KO) in the co-main event.
Elsewhere on the card, Hamicha (43-2, 31 KO) improved to 7-0 in GLORY with a one-sided win over Brice Kombou (20-7, 5 KO), Deniz Demirkapu (16-5, 10 KO) out pointed Andre Santos (23-3, 10 KO) in an entertaining contest, Romania’s Alin Nechita (20-3, 8 KO) scored the biggest win of his young career beating Luis Tavares (64-11, 21 KO) by decision, and Stefan Latescu (19-6, 9 KO) got back to winning ways in GLORY with an explosive performance over Enrico Pelligrino (28-4-1, 9 KO).Â
GLORY returns with GLORY 106: Last Featherweight Standing in Tokyo, Japan on March 28 and then Tarik Khbabez (53-12-1, 28 KO) will defend his GLORY light heavyweight world championship at GLORY 107 on April 25 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.Â
