Van Roosmalen expects Embree to fold after two rounds

Robin van Roosmalen (36-7, 20 KO's) thinks Matt Embree (39-7, 18 KO's) will last two rounds with him before folding when they meet in the main event of GLORY 37 SUPERFIGHT SERIES in Los Angeles on Friday night.

According to Van Roosmalen, Embree does not have the experience necessary to win the fight. He sees his own extensive run of success against top-level competition as being a huge asset and a hurdle that Embree will struggle to overcome.

“My key to victory is experience. He has fought decent opponents but not the kind of top level opponents that I have. I think he will hang in there for two rounds and then he is dead,” he ays.

“My mindset is my best weapon. I am the hardest working guy in the gym, the hardest working guy in the division. I think I am probably the hardest working guy in the sport. I am a perfectionist and if I do not do something to what I consider the best standard, it drives me crazy.

Embree himself has speculated that his own biggest advantage is that as a newcomer to GLORY and not yet a big name, he is difficult to scout and analyzee. He believes Van Roosmalen has very little intel on him.

That makes Van Roosmalen laugh. “I've been watching him a long time. I saw his fight four years ago against Kevin Ross, I have been watching him since then. He doesn't know that I know about him!

“He's a good fighter. He relies a lot on his right hand and his power. But I saw an interview where he said I am one-dimensional. If he really thinks that, he is stupid.”

Despite predicting Embree to fade after two rounds, Van Roosmalen isn't setting any specific targets for himself in terms of how or when the fight will end.

“My goal is just to win the fight. It doesn't matter how. I want to be dominant, I want to hurt him. I want to knock him, I want to do everything, but as long as I win the fight I am good with that,” he says.

GLORY 37 SUPERFIGHT SERIES airs live worldwide on UFC FIGHT PASS on Friday, January 20 from 7.40pm PT / 10.30pm PT on UFC FIGHT PASS, the UFC's digital broadcast platform.
