This GLORY 11 CHICAGO clash was a rematch of a 2009 fight, which ended in controversial fashion. Spong had been rocked and was under the refereeâs protection taking a count when Nathan âCarnageâ Corbett, apparently believing the referee had indicated him to continue, resumed his attack and finished Spong off.
Eventually the result was overturned to a No Contest but Spong always considered it a loss. Fans badly wanted to see a rematch in 2013 they got it. This time the tables were turned: Spong has been getting better by the day over the last two years and he demonstrated that improvement in this fight by way of a second-round KO.
âThis was my first time seeing Tyrone Spong live in action and it was just awe-inspiring,â says James Law, GLORY photographer.
âI had heard a lot about him from my friend and fellow photographer Ryan Loco, who trains at the Blackzilians camp in Florida, and after watching his previous GLORY fights I knew I had to be 100% focused because the fight could end at literally any moment.
