Maslobojev vs. Stoica Fight Preview

  • News
  • Jun 5, 2024

The Quarterfinal 3 fight preview of the GLORY Light Heavyweight Grand Prix is powered by Unibet.

The two senior members of the GLORY Light Heavyweight Grand Prix meet in the third quarter-final of the night as Lithuania’s Sergej Maslobojev (38-6, 23 KO) takes on Romania’s Bogdan Stoica (58-14, 40 KO).

Between them they have almost 120 career pro fights and over 30 combined years in the professional ranks and, surprisingly, this is the first meeting of these two veterans.

Maslobojev is a former GLORY light heavyweight world champion is a tournament master with victories across pro & amateur kickboxing, MMA, and boxing one-night tournaments. While he may possess an overall savviness toward the strategy for such an event, each fight is its own animal and Bogdan Stoica is a difficult opponent to face under any setting.

One half of the famous Stoica brothers, Bogdan has long been one of the most consistent names in kickboxing. Known for his trademark ‘flying knee’, the 34-year-old has had his own successes with tournaments in the past.

Both men respect the other, however, only one can move forward to the semi-finals and we should expect that when the bell rings all friendliness will be thrown out the window. They might be the two oldest in the Grand Prix but they are arguably two of the most dynamic fighters.

Maslobojev is in better form as of late and has a chip on his shoulder due to losing his GLORY title thanks to a cut on his shin. He wants to prove a point in this tournament while for Stoica this would be a defining moment in his lengthy career.

The Lithuanian has the edge and will be a favourite heading in but when you has two fighters capable of landing any variety of strikes, you are in dangerous territory. Another fantastic quarter-final match-up.
