Meksen “super-fit, ready, determined” for Van Soest clash in New York

The two best female kickboxers in the world are set to meet in the main event of the GLORY 48 NEW YORK Superfight Series card.   On the one side, GLORY super-bantamweight champion Tiffany van Soest (18-2-1, 6 KO’s), winner of last year’s Grand Prix and undefeated in the last three years. On the other side, Anissa Meksen, ranked #1 in the contender listings and undefeated in the last four years.   Meksen (93-3, 29 KO’s) fought at last month’s GLORY 47 LYON and stopped Funda Alkayis in the third round to send herself forward for this title shot in the world’s most famous arena. It will be her second appearance in downtown New York City.    Last week, Van Soest told GLORYKickboxing.com that “calm mind, electric body” would be her keys to victory over Meksen; the French contender doesn’t see things going Van Soest’s way.   “For the last three years, kickboxing media like the Liverkick website have ranked me as the number one fighter at this weight. I am heading to Madison Square Garden to confirm this status,” says Meksen.   “Tiffany van Soest is a strong opponent, she’s a very good boxer. But I have three times more fights than her on my record and this experience will show. I don’t know if she’s the best of anyone I’ve faced but she’s definitely one of the best in the world and so I take her very seriously.    "I am prepared for this fight like never before: super fit, ready, determined.”   Madison Square Garden has already been the scene of one triumph for Meksen. She debuted there for GLORY earlier this year, taking a dominating decision win over Brazil’s Jady Menezes at GLORY 43 in July.   “To fight in New York was a dream, it was just magic!” Meksen enthuses.    “But I arrived there very close to the fight and the time difference between New York and France meant I didn’t feel on top form for that fight. This time I will be arriving with my team eight days out from the fight.   “I think all the kickboxers in the world dream to fight for the GLORY belt and even more Madison New York, so it's great to play this fight!   GLORY 48 NEW YORK takes place Friday, December 1 in The Theater at Madison Square Garden, New York City.    Van Soest and Meksen headline the Superfight Series section of the card. GLORY 48 SUPERFIGHT SERIES airs live worldwide on UFC Fight Pass between 7.30pm and 9.30pm Eastern Time.
