Daniel Morales is defending home soil next month when he meets Tennessee’s Omari Boyd in the opening fight of the GLORY 50 CHICAGO Superfight Series card. Morales is from Chicago and has made three of his five GLORY appearances on Chicago cards, the most recent being when he lost a decision to Richard Abraham, also a Chicago native, at GLORY 44. Boyd is 2-0 in GLORY following wins back at GLORY 18 and GLORY 21. Since then he’s enjoyed wins on the North American circuit and a third-place position in his weight class at last year’s 2017 World Games. Returning to GLORY following a hiatus of over two years, Boyd - who owns state and national championships in Muay Thai and kickboxing - will be looking to make an impression and start a run going in the welterweight division. A win would put Boyd 3-0 in the division and be the perfect start to 2018 for him, as well as opening up the possibility of a bigger-name match for his subsequent outing. The idea of consecutive losses in his home city will be unconscionable to Morales. After their fight, he started training with Abraham and will have new elements to his game when he enters the ring at GLORY 50. GLORY 50 CHICAGO takes place Friday, February 16 at the UIC Pavilion, Chicago. The SuperFight Series section of the card streams live and exclusively on UFC FIGHT PASS at 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m PT.
