‘Rock Star’ Rodriguez remains undefeated

‘The Rockstar’ Charles Rodriguez (6-0) maintained his undefeated record in the opening fight of the GLORY 52 LOS ANGELES Superfight Series card.    He outlanded fellow welterweight Brian Bruns (1-1) over three rounds to earn a unanimous decision from the five ringside judges.   Bruns was also undefeated when he entered the ring, albeit his record was just 2-0, having only turned professional recently.   Things were close initially as the two fighters - both standing over 6’0 - picked at each other from long range and sought to create openings.    Over the course of the fight Rodriguez started to loosen up. A quirky character, he got creative but at the same time maintained volume of output.    Heavy leather was exchanged in the final round but Rodriguez still had the edge over Bruns in volume. The final minute saw them trade with abandon and land solid shots in a sprint for the finish.    This fight was originally set to take place on the Preliminary Card but was moved up when the Superfight Series card lost an originally scheduled bout. Rodriguez will now be hoping tonight’s win secures him a spot on a future Superfight Series card.   Charles Rodriguez def. Brian Bruns, Unanimous Decision, (30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
