Current and former champions to meet in GLORY 45 headliner

A battle of current and former champions headlines GLORY 45 AMSTERDAM as ruling featherweight boss Robin van Roosmalen (38-7, 21 KO’s) defends his belt against Serhiy Adamchuk (35-8, 14 KO’s) in the main event.    It will be Van Roosmalen’s second defense of the title on home soil, following his win against Petchpanomrung in May of this year. Adamchuk won’t feel too much of a stranger though, as this fight takes place in his adopted home city of Amsterdam.   Ukrainian national Adamchuk trains and fights out of Mike’s gym, a north Amsterdam institution famous as a factory of top-level fighting talent.    He won the belt from Gabriel Varga at GLORY 25 MILAN and made one defense of it, against Mosab Amrani at GLORY 28 PARIS, before losing it back to Varga in their GLORY 32 VIRGINIA rematch.    Adamchuk has chased the title ever since and would have been the one facing Van Roosmalen at GLORY 41 had he not dropped a decision to Petchpanomrung in the final of the GLORY 39 BRUSSELS Featherweight Contender Tournament.   A convincing win over Dylan Salvador at GLORY 42 PARIS put Adamchuk right back in the mix though. In Paris he showcased a new, much more aggressive style, which won him victory from the judges and support from the fans.    Whether he repeats those tactics against Van Roosmalen remains to be seen. The power-punching Van Roosmalen loves getting into exchanges and feels most at home when an opposing fighter squares off and sits in the pocket with him.   “Both Van Roosmalen and Adamchuk have a high level of technical skill, but employ it in different ways,” observes Cor Hemmers, GLORY Head of Talent Operations.    “Van Roosmalen likes to shut the opponent’s space down and then blast him with combinations which attack multiple targets and create opening after opening for his follow-on shots.    “Adamchuk has generally preferred to outfox his opponents in GLORY, baiting them into position and landing his shots once they have exposed themselves defensively.    “Until now he has played matador against forward-moving opponents, but the revealing of his own forward-pressure talents in his last fight adds an interesting new layer of threat to his game.”   Tickets for GLORY 45 AMSTERDAM and GLORY 45 SuperFight Series are on sale now via tickets.glorykickboxing.com.   GLORY 45 Amsterdam is set to air live on ESPN3 on Saturday, September 30th, 2017 at 3:30pm Eastern time (ET) and replay on ESPN2 on Sunday, October 1st, 2017 at 11pm ET.
