GLORY 23: Anderson Silva vs. Jamal Ben Saddik headlines Superfight Serie...

Heavyweight hitters Anderson ‘Braddock’ Silva (38-11-1, 24 KO’s) and Jamal Ben Saddik (26-4, 22 KO’s) will headline the Superfight Series card taking place at GLORY 23 LAS VEGAS next month.

The two big brawlers are both trying to blast their way into heavyweight title contention. That goal sets them on collision course at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, August 8.

Ben Saddik - at 6’9”/205cm the biggest fighter on the GLORY roster - recently returned from disciplinary suspension to take a quick stoppage win at GLORY 22 FRANCE last month, demonstrating his ferocious punching power on the way to a KO finish at 1:59 of the first round.

Silva’s last GLORY appearance was in May last year when he beat the PRIDE FC and STRIKEFORCE veteran Sergey Kharitonov in the semi-finals of the GLORY 16 DENVER Heavyweight Contender Tournament before losing to Errol ‘The Bonecrusher’ Zimmerman in the final.

The Brazilian, who trains and fights out of Rio de Janeiro’s Team Nogueira under MMA icon Rodrigo Nogueira, has recently been active on social media, taking aim at GLORY heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven and calling him out.

Ben Saddik, a former training partner of Alistair Overeem and Gokhan Saki among others, has also made no secret of his title shot ambitions. His previous victories include wins over Remy Bonjasky, Errol Zimmerman and a 2011 stoppage of Verhoeven.

“Here we have two big guys with a lot of knockout power in their hands and both very hungry to get themselves into title contention. These two don’t go in there to play for points. Every time they fight they want a big finish and they want it quick,” says Cor Hemmers, GLORY Matchmaker and Head of Talent Operations.

“Silva has faced the best of the best and while he hasn’t always come out on top there is no denying his quality, especially now that he is back in Brazil and training at Team Nogueira. Our champion Rico Verhoeven has evolved incredibly since his 2011 but Ben Saddik wants the chance to prove that win wasn’t a fluke.

“The road to a title shot starts in Las Vegas. Whoever wins this encounter moves up the ladder and one step closer to that goal.”

GLORY 23 LAS VEGAS takes place Friday, August 8 in Las Vegas, Nevada and features Nieky ‘The Natural’ Holzken facing Raymond ‘Real Deal’ Daniels in the headline slot as they fight for the vacant World Welterweight Championship.

The event airs live in the US on Spike TV at 11pm ET/10pm CT.
