Josh Jauncey (26-8, 15 KO’s) will welcome newcomer Elvis Gashi (18-0, 9 KO’s) to GLORY this Friday night at GLORY 43 NEW YORK and thinks that the debuting lightweight is biting off more than he can chew.
“He is jumping in at the deep end. I feel bad for him a bit… but not bad enough that it will stop me smashing him,” says the British-Canadian.
Gashi, originally from Kosovo in eastern Europe but resident in New York, USA for the last few years, brings an undefeated record to the ring with him. Jauncey plans on giving him his first ‘L’.
“He does bring an undefeated record to this fight but after this it won’t be staying. it’s not going to be his night. He is in deep water and it can go one of two ways: he can either drown or he can really rise to the occasion. I hope it’s the latter and we can have a good scrap,” he says.
Jauncey is unhesitating in predicting a stoppage victory for himself. He doesn’t expect the fight to last anywhere close to its allotted time.
“Elvis is used to being on stage but on Friday he will be leaving the building early,” Jauncey laughs.
“I don't see it going past the second round, if he goes to the third I will be very impressed. I don't get paid by the hour. For me its get in, get out, go and see New York… and have some pizza.”
