Late entrant Remy 'Robocop' Vectol joins GLORY 42 line-up

The opening bout of the GLORY 42 PARIS SUPERFIGHT SERIES card was originally set to feature young French standout Jimmy Vienot against the veteran Francois 'Bang Bang' Ambang (17-6-0 / 6 wins by (T)KO).

But Vienot suffered an injury last week and was forced to rule himself out of the fight.

A replacement was sought and has now been found in the form of Remy 'Robocop' Vectol (46-10-1, 18 KO's), a Muay Thai stylist fighting out of France but originally from French Guyana.

Experienced under both Muay Thai and kickboxing rules, the 27-year-old Vectol has numerous minor international titles to his credit and is a three-time French national champion, his most recent such achievement taking place in 2016.

“Vectol's management had approached us recently with a view to getting him in the welterweight division, ideally on a French card. I looked at some video of him and I felt we could give him a shot, although I didn't have anything available in the near future,” says GLORY matchmaker Cor Hemmers.

“But then Vienot pulled out injured so I contacted his management earlier this week and offered them the short notice slot. They immediately said yes. It's a last minute opportunity so it's his lucky day. If he can beat Ambang he earns a spot on the roster.

“It's a great opportunity for him but, at the same time, being on short notice makes for a disadvantage for him. On the other hand, Ambang is training and fighting in the US.

“Generally the strongest kickboxers in the world are to be found on the Dutch and French circuits, so Vectol certainly has enough experience to make this a real challenge for him.”

GLORY 42 PARIS takes place at the Accor Hotel Arena in Paris, France on Saturday, June 10 and is one of the most stacked cards of 2017.

Welterweight champion Cedric Doumbé headlines in a title rematch with former champion Nieky Holzken and the card also features a Lightweight Contender Tournament and a welterweight title challenge elimination battle between Murthel Groenhart and Harut Grigorian.

Ambang and Vectol will open the GLORY 42 SUPERFIGHT SERIES card, which precedes the GLORY 42 PARIS numbered card and which airs live worldwide on UFC FIGHT PASS. The GLORY 42 SUPERFIGHT SERIES headline bout features two more top welterweights as Yoann Kongolo welcomes the explosive Yohan Lidon to GLORY.
