The beef between Joe âStitch âEm Upâ Schilling (18-6, 11 KOâs) and Wayne Barrett (5-1, 4 KOâs) has been squashed following their fight in the semi-finals of GLORY LAST MAN STANDING.Schilling says he and Barrett talked after the event and have turned the heat down on the simmering rivalry - although he does admit that there was a little disagreement between them following the pre-fight press conference.
âI spoke to him after the fight and I was like, âCan we stop this back and forth in the media now?â and he agreed,â Schilling says. âI told him he doesnât need to make a name for himself by getting involved with my name, he has his own name now.
âI never had anything against Wayne. He is young in his career and in the first fight I took him lightly because of his record. But he made me eat my words, he dropped me twice in our first fight.
âI do think he says arrogant stuff sometimes but when I was young in my career I did the same thing. I think he will come into his own and realize his name is good whether it is attached to mine or not.
âWe had a little beef at the pre-fight press conference because he signed a posted for this kid and he signed right over my face.
âHe thought it was funny but I was like âLook, that little kid would probably have preferred a posted with me signing my own face, you know? It doesnât hurt me that you did that but it does hurt that little kid.â
âLittle immature things like that [he can do without]. But I have nothing against Wayne, I think he will continue to improve and become a force to be reckoned with.â
In an ideal world, Schilling would not only end the beef with Barrett but would also have him on a non-compete list. He knows that is unlikely to happen though.
âI really donât like fighting him, his style is annoying⊠which is great for him, I am sure that is what he wants,â he laughs.
âBut if I am honest I think itâs going to be me, Artem, Simon and Wayne happening quite a few times. We are the top guys and the fans will enjoy those fights... I just donât really want to fight Wayne that many more times.â
