Andrei Stoica (31-4, 21 KO’s) has joined the GLORY World Series light-heavyweight division.

The Romanian has signed a multi-fight deal and will make his debut for the organization at GLORY 15 ISTANBUL on Saturday, April 12.

Stoica has dominated his weight category in his native Romania and now seeks to do the same on the world stage.

In his GLORY debut he will face Danyo Ilunga (54-5, 41 KO’s), ranked #3 in the world and formerly ranked #1. A student of Remy Bonjasky, the talented Ilunga will be the toughest test of Stoica’s career.

“Even by the high standards of the Romanian kickboxing scene, Andrei Stoica stands out as a top talent,” says Cor Hemmers, GLORY Head of Talent Operations.

“His performances are never anything short of explosive. Andre is fast and powerful and he has some very nice techniques. There are some big knockouts on his highlight reel and now he will try to add some more in GLORY.”

The fight with Ilunga is a reserve match for the Light-Heavyweight World Championship Tournament taking place that night. The winner will be a reservist for the tournament and will be called up should either of the tournament finalists be too injured to continue.

Gokhan Saki (79-16, 56 KO’s) makes his light-heavyweight debut in the tournament, which also includes Tyrone ‘King of the Ring’ Spong (90-5, 60 KO’s), Nathan ‘Carnage’ Corbett (57-4, 45 KO’s) and Brazilian knockout machine Saulo Cavalari (28-2, 18 KO’s).

GLORY 15 ISTANBUL takes place at the Ulker Arena, Istanbul, Turkey on Saturday, April 12. It will air in over 150 territories worldwide, including a US broadcast available to over 98 million homes via SPIKE TV.
