Undefeated Gashi Aims for Title Contention at GLORY 55

Bronx bomber Elvis Gashi (21-0, 10 KO’s) looks to insert his name into the lightweight title shot conversation with a win at GLORY 55 NEW YORK next month.    Gashi is 3-0 in GLORY and sports a perfect professional record. Extending that GLORY run to four straight wins will move him up from his current #6 ranking position and add weight to his calls for a title shot.    Originally from Kosovo, Gashi’s family were forced to flee when the Balkan Civil War (1991-2001) tore their homeland apart and resulted in the almost total destruction of their village, including his father’s mechanic shop.    Some years in Belgium followed, where Gashi started kickboxing, and then he made his way to the USA and made a home in The Bronx, New York. An amateur record of 107-3 preceded a successful leap to the professional ranks.   A GLORY 43 NEW YORK debut win over Josh Jauncey made a big impression and was followed by two more victories, one in New York and one in the UK.    Standing opposite him is newcomer Nick Chasteen (8-5), fighting out of Phoenix, Arizona. A lifelong kickboxer who is trained by his father, Chasteen is looking to snap Gashi’s win streak and steal his shine.   Gashi and Chasteen are fighting on the main card, which will will air live in the USA on ESPN NEWS from 9:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. PT and will re-air Sunday, July 22 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on ESPN 2.
