Four All-American heavyweights will rattle the ring at GLORY 21 SAN DIEGO on Friday, May 8 in the inaugural Heavyweight Qualification Tournament, with the winner earning a place in the next Heavyweight Contender Tournament.
The participants are being announced this week via GloryWorldSeries.com, starting with Everett âThe Wolverineâ Sims. He made his professional kickboxing debut on the GLORY 19 SUPERFIGHT SERIES last month with a stoppage loss to Xavier Vigney.
He came into GLORY with a 6-1 amateur kickboxing record, including two wins by stoppage, and a 6-1 MMA record which includes one professional win. Fighting out of Gladiators Academy in Lafayette, Louisiana, Sims is past the nerves of his big-show debut and is hungry to make his mark.
He is trained and cornered by the UFC veteran Tim Credeur. He lists his key strengths as Muay Thai and boxing and describes himself as an âaggressive tactical fighter who is always trying to finish the fight.â
Sims won the amateur heavyweight division of the WAKO North American 2014 Tournament. He says fighting for GLORY is âa dream come trueâ his interests outside of fighting are âtraveling with friends and family, firearms and fast cars!â
GLORY 21 SAN DIEGO will be headlined by Artem âThe Lionâ Levin defending his World Middleweight Championship against the winner of GLORY 20 DUBAIâs Middleweight Contender Tournament. GLORY 20 DUBAI takes place Friday April 3 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and will air in the US on Spike TV at 10pm ET/9pm CT.
