GLORY 12 By The Numbers

  • News
  • Dec 1, 2013

Sporting events throw up all kinds of interesting statistics and GLORY is no different. From strikes thrown and percentage landed through to finish times, KO rates and assorted trivia, here’s GLORY 12 NEW YORK by the numbers.

1 - The amount of times Giorgio Petrosyan has been knocked out in an 81-fight career. Andy Ristie was the man who did the unthinkable. In fact, this was also the first time that Petrosyan has even been knocked down.

#1 - GLORY 12 NEW YORK trended on Twitter at #1 worldwide while it was underway

2 - Robin Van Roosmalen came second in a GLORY lightweight tournament for the second year running. It is frustrating for the Dutch contender but will only fuel his competitive fires for the 2014 season.

3 - Celebrity guests at ringside. Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, Evander Holyfield and Idris Elba had front-row seats and were blown away by what they saw. Holyfield said afterwards, “I haven’t seen action like that in a long, long time.”

3 - Knockdowns in the headline fight between Joe Schilling and Wayne Barrett. Two knockdowns by Barrett in the second round made the finish seem close only for Barrett to be knocked down and nearly knocked out by a Schilling knee in round three.

4 - Incarnations of Madison Square Garden since it was founded in 1879. The latest is the biggest and best and currently holds the distinction of being the busiest music arena in the whole of the USA. Madison Square Garden is not only a New York institution, it is America’s arena.

7 - Total number of knockouts/technical knockouts from the card’s twelve fights.

13 - Our next event is GLORY 13 TOKYO at the Ariake Coliseum, Tokyo, Japan on December 21. The event features the Japanese retirement match of the legendary Peter Aerts.

25 - The percentage by which viewers increased from our debut on Spike TV, thanks to word-of-mouth generated by the non-stop knockout action.

32 - Total strikes thrown by Andy Ristie in the semi-final fight with Giorgio Petrosyan.

34.4 - percentage of strikes Giorgio Petrosyan landed on Andy Ristie. In comparison, Ristie landed 22.7% of his - but he only needed to land the right one to finish the fight.

58 - The percentage of fights which ended inside the distance at GLORY 12

59 - The number of arm strikes landed by Robin Van Roosmalen against Davit Kiria

59 - The number of leg strikes landed by Robin Van Roosmalen against Davit Kiria, the only fighter on the card to record an even split between arm and leg strikes.

61 - Amount of seconds it took for Jhonata Diniz to KO his Croatian opponent Igor Jurkovic, a former training partner of Mirko CroCop

137 - The difference in pounds between Semmy Schilt, the GLORY 4 Heavyweight Tournament Champion, and his lightweight student Davit Kiria (52 kg)

268 - Total strikes thrown by Ky Hollenbeck in his fight with Warren Stevelmans. 141 landed, making him the busiest fighter on the GLORY 12 card. Second place went to Robin Van Roosmalen, who threw 262 strikes in his semi-final fight with Davit Kiria and landed 118 of them.

550 - The Las Vegas betting line on Andy Ristie winning the tournament was +550. That means that if you had placed $100 on Ristie to win, you would have received $550 back. Were you one of the lucky few who backed The Machine to take tournament gold?

1,000 - Ticket office staff estimated this to be the number of people turned away on fight night due to GLORY 12 being sold out.

150,000 - The amount in dollars which tournament champion Andy Ristie walked away with. Asked what he is going to do with the money he replied, “I am going straight to the bank!”

Zero - Boos from the crowd. Not once during the entire evening did the crowd get restless. GLORY events are all-action all night long.
