Brazil’s fighting pedigree is almost unmatched in the martial arts world and now the South American nation has one more fighter in the GLORY World Series as Alex ‘Po Atan’ Pereira joins GLORY Middleweight division.

Pereira (11-1, 8 KO’s) has a boxing background. The 27 year old switched to kickboxing in 2009 and has enjoyed success after success, winning several domestic championships. His boxing background means he has very dangerous hands and a real killer instinct.

“We are very happy to welcome Pereira to the GLORY World Series,” says Cor Hemmers, Head of Talent Operations.

“He has an aggressive style which we really like. GLORY fighters are all about going for the KO’s and the big finishes, so Pereira will be right at home here.

“Brazil is a powerhouse in the MMA world. Fighters like Pereira, Saulo Cavalari and Anderson ‘Braddock’ Silva are on track to make it a powerhouse in the world of GLORY kickboxing as well.”

Pereira’s nickname ‘Po Atan’ is a traditional name among the native Indians of Brazil. It reflects Pereira’s pride in being descended from one of the Brazil’s native tribes.

“I go by Po Atan to give respect to my heritage and to channel the warrior spirit of my ancestors,” he says.

A GLORY debut opponent for Pereira will be announced in the near future via GLORY World Series.com

On Saturday March 8, GLORY 14 ZAGREB takes place in the capital city of Croatia. Headlining is local hero Mirko ‘CroCop’ Filipovic. He faces fellow legend Remy Bonjasky, who wants revenge for the stoppage loss he suffered in their 2002 fight.
