Kyshenko takes on Karapetyan at GLORY 14

Fresh from a decisive victory in his GLORY debut, Artur Kyshenko (56-11-1, 29 KO’s) faces one of the toughest tests of his career as he faces Karapet Karapetyan (42-9-2, 4 KO’s) at GLORY 14 ZAGREB.

Kyshenko was a force in the lightweight (70kgs/154lbs) division for many years, taking wins over the likes of Yoshihiro Sato, Andy Souwer and Yodsaenklai Fairtex.

On signing with GLORY he has elected to move up to welterweight 170lbs (77kgs), the division suiting his frame better and allowing him to avoid the increasingly difficult weigh-cut. Already powerful, Kyshenko has gained extra strength from moving up one weight class.

Karapetyan is ranked #4 in the division and had some standout performances in 2013, with fans impressed by his philosophy of relentless attack.

World #1 Nieky Holzken eliminated him from the Welterweight Championship Tournament but Karapetyan remains a force in the division and has no intention of letting Kyshenko, ranked #6, eclipse him.

A win for Karapetyan would add a big name to his list of victories and would reconfirm his role as a top contender.

A win for Kyshenko would immediately announce him as a new threat at welterweight and have the division’s top-ranked fighters - Holzken, Joe Valtellini and Marc De Bonte - looking over their shoulders.

GLORY 14 ZAGREB takes place on Saturday, March 8 in Zagreb, Croatia. The headline fight sees Mirko ‘CroCop’ Filipovic take on friend and former training partner Remy Bonjasky.
