CroCop on The MMA Hour

Mirko ‘CroCop’ Filipovic was the headline guest on The MMA Hour on Monday. The show, hosted by Ariel Helwani and the MMAFighting.com team, is the biggest talk show in fight sports. Despite the name, figures from kickboxing and other combat sports have featured regularly over the years. ‘CroCop’, generally reclusive when it comes to press intrusion, made the rare live media appearance to talk about his GLORY 14 ZAGREB fight with fellow kickboxing legend Remy Bonjasky this Saturday, March 8.

The event takes place in CroCop’s home city, the capital of Croatia. It airs in the US on Spike TV on Saturday at 9pm ET/8pm Central. “GLORY is doing a great job. What the UFC is to MMA, GLORY is to kickboxing. It has put all the top fighters in one place under one flag. They are doing a great job, I saw here in Zagreb how they pay attention to every detail, they have my congratulations,” says CroCop. “They have all the top fighters, they are like K-1 was in the 1990’s, they have taken over now. They are doing the right job and I am really glad they have such big ratings among the American fans.”

Regarding future fights for GLORY he said, “First I need to beat Remy Bonjasky again, then I will take a week’s rest and then I will decide what to do next… most likely I will fight for them again.”

“Everybody knows Remy as a true legend, three-time winner of K-1... that’s why I’m fighting him again. It will be a war.” Aside from the long-awaited rematch it also features a Lightweight World Title Fight between Andy ‘The Machine’ Ristie and Davit Kiria, plus a four-man Middleweight Contender Tournament with a spot in the upcoming World Championship Tournament on the line.

‘CroCop’ also talked about his days as a megastar in Japan, fighting under ‘vale tudo’ rules for PRIDE FC banner, and his time fighting for the UFC, plus his thoughts on former opponents Bob Sapp and Fedor Emelianenko. Watch Mirko ‘CroCop’ on The MMA Hour here.
