Andy âThe Machineâ Ristie (43-4-1, 23 KOâs) has been added to the GLORY 19 line-up. He will face Australian power-puncher âStone Coldâ Steve Moxon (38-10-1, 23 KOâs) on the âSuperfight Seriesâ section of the February 6 card.
Ristie and Moxon have two of the highest KO ratios in the sport. More than half of Ristieâs victories end with him stopping his opponent while Moxon does the same an astonishing 68% of the time.
âThe fight matches two of the hardest-hitting fighters in the lightweight division and promises some explosive action⊠for as long as it lasts,â says Cor Hemmers, GLORY matchmaker and Head of Talent Operations.
Ristie goes into the bout off the back of a knockout win over Ky Hollenbeck at GLORY 17 LOS ANGELES in June.
That fight followed his disappointment at GLORY 14 ZAGREB when he came within minutes of winning the World Lightweight Championship only for Davit Kiria to stage an incredible comeback and win the fight in the final round.
Moxon is coming off a win over Aikpracha Meenayothin in China earlier this month. Moxon had a tough fight with the Thai champion, who is also signed to GLORY, before landing one of his trademark bombs and ending the fight ten seconds from the end.
A win puts Ristie right back into the title shot conversation. In November 2013 he stopped Giorgio Petrosyan and Robin van Roosmalen back to back to win the GLORY 12 NEW YORK tournament. He was on course to beat Kiria for the vacant belt at GLORY 14 until the Georgian karateka staged his incredible comeback.
If Moxon can stop Ristie it will be the biggest win of his career and a huge statement about where he is in his career. Victory would propel him into top-echelon matches for his next outing, making this meeting with Ristie a critical bout for him.
GLORY 19 is headlined by Errol Zimmerman challenging heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven for his title belt.
Also on the card is a four-man Welterweight Contender Tournament. Nieky Holzken, Raymond Daniels, Alexander Stecurenko and Jonathan Oliveira will battle it out for a chance to challenge âBazookaâ Joe Valtellini for the welterweight title.
