The Machine terminates Moxon in headline bout of GLORY Superfight Series 19

This was always going to be a tough fight for Moxon, partly due to Ristie’s skillset and partly due to the size and reach advantage. But if anybody could do the job it would be Moxon - he’s used to having a reach advantage and his stocky frame produces exactly the kind of overhand bombs which put taller opponents away.

Things were going well for Moxon at first. He got his range early and he was landing his right hand repeatedly, although not with full clean connections due to Ristie leaning away or rolling off the punches. There were certainly some scary moments for Ristie fans at first but ‘The Machine’ was taking his time and figuring Moxon out.

Once he did, things moved fast. Brutal knees to the body did their work and led to the first knockdown of the round. Savage punching pressured Moxon on the restart and led to the second knockdown as Moxon was battered into the ropes before taking a right shovel-hook to the body which forced him to take a knee.

With three knockdowns in one round signaling the end of a bout, Moxon was staring defeat in the face. His corner cried out for him to “Go for it!” as he took the referee’s count and on the restart he took their advice, powering into a huge overhand right effort.

Ristie read him perfectly and was ready with the counter. His straight cross drilled into Moxon’s jaw and dropped him to his knees. The referee jumped in to wave the fight off just fifteen seconds before the end of the round. Ristie wins by TKO and extends his GLORY win streak to 2-0 with two first round stoppages, 4-1 in his last five with all four wins by stoppage.

“The plan was to finish this quick and get to the next fight - van Roosmalen has got my belt and I want it, it belongs to me.” he said afterwards.

“I want the title shot next. That belt has to be mine. Robin, I am coming for you. Be ready.”
