Brian ‘The Lion’ Collette returns to the ring at GLORY 19 for a ‘Superfight Series’ fight against Myron ‘The Future’ Dennis.
Collette fights out of Virginia and was most recently seen at GLORY 18, where he took part in the Light-Heavyweight Contender Tournament but was eliminated in the semi-final stage by Zack ‘The Black Warrior’ Mwekassa.
Dennis fights out of Oklahoma City and is a two-sport athlete, competing in both MMA and kickboxing. He recently captured the Legacy MMA light-heavyweight title after beating the UFC, Bellator and Strikeforce veteran Paul Buentello.
He cites heavyweight icon Remy Bonjasky as his favorite kickboxer and also says Anderson Silva, the Muay Thai stylist and former UFC champion, is a huge influence.
It is not the first time Collette and Dennis have been on the same card. They were both part of the line-up for the first ever ‘Road to Glory’ talent-scouting tournament. Dennis lost in the quarter-finals of the February 2013 event while Collette made it to the final but lost to Dustin Jacoby.
Now the two Muay Thai stylists will cross paths at last as Collette looks to rebound from his Contender Tournament disappointment and Dennis looks to make a statement in his official GLORY debut. Both are hungry for victory but only one can have it.
Also looking to get back in the win column is Francois Ambang, who was on the wrong side of the ‘Knockout of the Century’ when he was stopped by Raymond ‘Real Deal’ Daniels in epic fashion at GLORY 16 DENVER.
Ambang had been due to face Italian debutant Davide Armanini, a Muay Thai champion in his native Italy, but is now waiting for a replacement opponent due to Armanini being forced to drop out because of an injury sustained in training.
GLORY 19 takes place Friday, February 6 and is headlined by Errol Zimmerman challenging heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven for his title belt.
Also on the card is a four-man Welterweight Contender Tournament. Nieky Holzken, Raymond Daniels, Alexander Stecurenko and Jonathan Oliveira will battle it out for a chance to challenge ‘Bazooka’ Joe Valtellini for the welterweight title.
